Guidelines for Groups’ Presentation

Save this article in PDF

by Marc Le Menestrel (15/03/2011)

Each group will consist of at most 3 students and will make one presentation at the final Sessions at the end of the course. The presentation shall last at most 3 minutes in total. Every member of the group is expected to present. Keep in mind that you will be asked to stop your presentation when your time is up; hence you are strongly encouraged to practice before for your timing.

You can use the template to structure what you want to say but it turns out that, in the oral presentation, what works best are personal messages such as:

1. Why did you choose this company?

2. Why is the company really inspiring to you?

3. WHat did you learn in this group work?
...

Deadlines

  • Groups must be announced in writing or by email the day of Seminar 2.
  • Each group has to propose in writing or via email one or two possible ideas for the presentation before Seminar 3, explaining why they think these ideas are interesting. These ideas have to be accepted by the instructor.
  • The Presentations Presenting a New Ethical Business will take place during the last two sessions at the end of the course.

The way your group follows the guidelines about group presentations (content, deadline, punctuality) is part of your grade. Hence please read all the instructions carefully and contact me in case you have any doubt. Thank you for your attention.

Most importantly, your grade depends on the quality of your choice for a company that truly inspires you (and is not already on the website).

More information about the Groups’ Presentation

This presentation is part of the “We Dream Business Project” (http://www.wedreambusiness.org/).

WeDreamBusiness.org is a web-based project launched to promote ethical business practices worldwide. It is mainly oriented on my students and aims to show that there are already many companies that are both ethical and profitable.

Each group is expected to find an inspiring example of a business that successfully combines the creation of economic values with the respect of ethical values.

The inspiring/dreaming character of the company will be the first criterion to evaluate the presentation.

Then, you have to upload your study to the to the webpage of the “We Dream Business Project” by following the specified format of the form to upload a project at the http://www.wedreambusiness.org/.

The webpage already contains several projects and students should go over them in order to see concrete examples of what is expected from them (http://www.wedreambusiness.org/). This should also inspire students to find their own topic.

You have to find a company that inspires and and which is NOT already on the website. However, you will see that some companies are on the website but with a text of such low quality that it deserves another try. In that case, let me know and I will agree that you propose a better version

Each group is expected to have uploaded their project before the first session of Group Presentations to avoid last minute problems. This presentation will be graded around 25% of your final grade. Each member of the group will receive the same grade for the presentation. You are expected to hand in a hard copy of the uploaded project to the website at the beginning of your presentation (1 copy for the whole group).

This year, the password is UPF2017.

Below is the structure for your work:

A. The main facts about the activities of the company.

B. The Ethical challenges this company is addressing.

C. What makes you believe this company is really ethical and why you trust it?

D.The possible challenges facing the company in the future and how you think this company may improve.
